The ISSUE I have... is IF Greece leaves... then it paves the way for countries like Spain, Portugal and Italy to say... FUCK IT... let's just call this a bad decade... and leave...

There is no easy out in default and renegotiations.

I mean... it's not our fault that we are clever and hardworking people, eh. :D

And a little imperialism goes a long way.

But you do what you can. In the US, we have the petrol-dollar.

That won't happen in any of those 3 countries.

The conclusion is pretty simple. Most of Europe is still on the Euro. Bringing back the Lira, Escudo and Peseta would leave those 3 countries basicly dealing with each other because of their lower currencies. If ALL of Europe would go back to their currencies, then you can bet most countries wouldn't think twice.

Greece should have never been on the Euro. It was a bad deal for them, and a bad deal for the rest of the zone.

We wanted to change that in the 70s but the burgeois pigs in Bonn (the former German capital) and Washington were too strong.

Still... DER KAMPF GEHT WEITER!

It doesn't mean that can't happen. Just not in the short run.
All this Greek crisis is steering most of Europe a rise of right-wing parties.
Those want to quit the Euro like "yesterday".

But most people are frankly easily brainwashed.
I can forsee easily another decade with the Euro for all 3 mentioned before.
Spaniards and Italians won't leave the currency.
And Portugal only has 2 parties ( Socialists and Democrats ) with enough voters to ever rule in command.
Comunists and Extreme Right parties are never making a change in the short run. Never.
So... Yeah... Unless there's another military "coup d'état" , I hardly doubt we'll see us leave the currency.

It also helps that Germany is currently only spending 1.4% of gdp on defense, up from 1.2 a few years ago.
I mean really its more than enough to get the job done, what 8th largest total in the world?
But I wonder what the percent would be if it felt it couldn't rely on other Euro members or Nato and had problems with it's neighbors.?
I think Nato members are supposed to spend 2% minimum.

This would cause LOTS of hassle and Merkel won't let that happen lightly...

She's like a Bitch on Heat... She aint letting go unless there's only Women's dogs around to smell her hormones...

PS. A BETTER Analogy would be a dog that has it's jaws wrapped around your neck... and the only way to make her stop is sticking your finger up her bum...

EDIT: I aint sticking my fingers ANYWHERE close to that stone faced bitch...

I had heard that spain and italy were doing poorly as well but didn't know about portugal. Hell, if things keep going the way they are here in the states, something similar could happen in the us.

2.0 is way too much in my opinion but we're getting there eventually.

Meanwhile, Merkel is spending billions on various NATO and UN operations worldwide, then there's Afghanistan, etc. Read, as long as you blow money into NATO asses, you're getting away with everything. :)

Hopefully we have more politicians like Farage in the future.

What Farage said sounds good at first sight but he's selling illusions just like any other politician. Greece will NOT be able to take things back into their own hands when they leave the EU because they're flat broke and need money from outside to get back on their feet again, Tourism and a bit of electronics industry alone won't cut it.

So where do you think the money will come from? Russia? USA? North Korea? Nope, they'll get it from a European country and the transfer will be done via the European Central Bank, thus the old fucked-up game begins anew.

Rethorically, Farage may have a point but other than that, he's not doing Greece a favour with the same populistic stuff he tells his people back at home. I'm not pro EU, far from it, but the Brussels Euro colossus is a reality and is not going away anytime soon, it's naive to believe that a country that is bankrupt can solve all problems by doing their own thing. Not going to happen, the investors are already waiting to ride in, with or without EU membership.

We, the people, have to do something about it, governments are just little puppets of international banks and trusts. It's the most difficult way but at the end of the day, it's the only one. Revolution.

Takumaji ... this is odious dept and Greece can disregard big portion of it. Private central banking is never the answer as printing money with interest is NEVER EVER going to work. You can't print money with interest ... as the more you are printing the more interest you accumulate and there will NEVER be enough money in circulation to pay for it. Greece people also are still not dumbed-down enough like Americans and Canadians to believe the fairy tales banks are selling them. Also don't forget about Iceland... who put the bankers in jail (unlike US that gave them money for bonuses) because of the 2008 fiasco... and cut away from the private banking in general. They aren't doing as bad as it was predicted (just like the Greece fear mongering going on right now).. and that is why no one is mentioning them.

BTW it would be great if people watch this documentary ... as it is an eye opener.. and actually there is some interesting facts about Germany that you might want to know... definitely an interesting watch. Done by Michael Rivero ..and he doesn't waste his time with stuff other than facts.

Couldn't have said it better.
Banks have to need people like any other business do. Not the other way around.

MuppeT, don't forget there's a difference between Iceland and Greece. Iceland has not even 1% of the corruption problem of Greece, the "old guard" in the Greek parliament will make sure that everything runs according to plan.

Dropping debt? Yeah, that's a possible way, too bad it will finally kill their credit rating, and that's not a good idea for a country that wants to install free zones for international banking... but hey, if they'd really go that far, they can still do splendid business with giants like Burundi or Romania... who needs the big players when you can sell Feta to Bucharest, eh.

Russia and BRICS will welcome Greece immediately... not bad for a start. The EU will fall anyway after few years and all will be back to normal. - all this in case of a Grexit.
