A minor but funny detail about the first World Heroes:

the second bonus stage has vases falling from the sky. Break them all and you get points, miss even one and you get nothing.

The funny thing is the points are calculated with the time remaining, not with some perfect standard bonus of 10,000 points or whatever.

Because the nature of this bonus round is waiting for the vases to fall and not how fast you can destroy something like the first bonus round, the highest score you can get is a whopping 400 points because the last vase drops with four seconds left.

Just a funny observation that shows ADK was still learning how to make video games. This game is packed with charm due to how amateurishly it was made.

They'd been in business since 1980. That feels like something they would have fixed but never got around to before release.

Plus, didn't Jet get rid of throw reversals and projectile reversals? Fuuuuuuck Jet. Even if I'm misremembering the throw and projectile reversals, losing Death Match mode was bad enough.
Loosing Deathmatch mode was bad, but we got fake dizzies in Jet.

Every time this thread gets bumped I read the title in a retard voice. No judgement though.

Back when this game was fresh in the arcades, "Surf Bowl" in Oceanside, CA used to have a Neo cab that had King of Fighters 94, King of Monsters, Samurai Showdown and World Heroes in it. I used to play the hell out of that game. To this day, it's still my favorite in the series.

Oceanside, the number one worst city in the entire United States of America to ever watch a movie in the theater. Two hours of nothing but an entire theater full of dumb 18 year-old incel marines from Pendleton yelling and catcalling at the top of their lungs every single time a female character of any age is on screen. Fucking brutal. Whatever stereotype you've ever heard about any group of people being loud in a movie theater in any city in the world, it does not compare to the decibel level and uninterruptedness of 350 Gomer Pyles from Alabama and South Carolina who have left home for the first time in their lives to train to become murderers.

Back in the "old days" (80s/90s), the only nice parts of Oceanside were west of the railroad tracks (basically, the beach area). Even Coast hwy (which used to be called Hill St) had prostitutes everywhere. Not to mention a lot of gang infested areas. Even Oceanside High School had a gang area right behind it. Back in the early 00s, the housing market skyrocketed and the Oceanside Police focused on clearing out a lot of "bad elements". Not to mention they completely revamped downtown Oceanside. It looks nothing like it did 20+ years ago. Houses that used to cost under $100k are now $1 million+. A lot of low/middle class people had to move away and most of the gangs are gone now. It's crazy how much it has changed.

Oceanside, a well-known Crime Capital, has been ruled by violence and death for many years. A fact which the newly-elected mayor and former Street Fighter, Mike Haggar, plans to change. At the center of the problem is the huge gang known as Mad Gear. Mad Gear controls all of the major criminal activity in the city.

Maybe it's different now. All I know is whenever I'd drive past Oceanside on my way to or back from San Diego, I would always think to myself, Homeboy, do not let the theater lights dim on you here.

Been there, and done that…at that very place, lol. Surf Bowl was home base when I would visit my Aunt and Uncle (he was stationed at Camp Pendleton).
