I watched Uncharted because it was free and I wanted to get out of the house. Totally forgettable, inoffensive action junk food. Tom Holland is likable enough (even though the poor guy's forever going to look like a child next to his co-stars) but the whole thing is just paper thin and the action scenes, what few there are, don't make up for the characters being cardboard cutouts. Even Antonio Banderas just gives a dollar store version of his other slimy villain performances. I've never played any of the Uncharted games so maybe you get more out of this if you have but I caught the Nolan North cameo. Can't imagine there's much past that.

Hmm.. Highlander... 2? I dont seem to remember anything like that. I remember Highlander, and the Highlander show. But that's it. There were no sequels made to my knowledge.

NONE.

Spider-Man No Way Home - A serviceable theater rip came out recently. Its "almost" dvd quality, and entirely watchable. I downloaded it to watch it again. Love that movie. It's still the best Spider-man movie to date, including the awesome Spider-verse movie. Love it, and will day 1 buy the 4k bluray.

"Ah, there's gotta be a black Spider-man out there somewhere." There is, Max... You'll be happy to know... there is.

For those who dont want No Way Home spoilers (even tho its this late in the game):
Spoiler:
I was able to see some more characters in the scene where Strange is 'sewing' the universe back up. You can clearly see Mac Gargan as the Scorpion, someone who I believe might be Spider-Gwen, or maybe Black Cat, Rhino, and Kraven the Hunter. Very cool. Not sure about whats his name that played Quicksilver to be playing Kraven in an upcoming Sony Spider-man flick, but if they do the character justice, it'll be cool to see.

I'll see it when it comes to netflix. Everyone says good things, but Homecoming was mediocre and Far From Home was not only the worst Spider-Man movie by far, but the worst super-hero movie in general since BvS. So I can't help being skeptical.

I think this upcoming Dr Strange movie is going to be the best Marvel movie for awhile. In some ways the last Spidey movie is just a setup for all the multi-verse nonsense (that and Loki.)

Holland was not the best choice for Nathan Drake.

Maybe not but for an origin story, he's fine. He's at least a decent actor and years of Spidermanning makes him believable when he's running around doing parkour shit. Honestly, Marky Mark is worse casting. I'm supposed to believe that meathead is some mastermind art dealer/thief?

Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie - This was everything I expected and more. Awesome watch from start to finish. If you like their brand of bullshit that is.

I totally forgot about Doomsday, I liked it a lot. I remember it coming out when a bunch of weirdo one-off action stuff was seemingly coming out every week. Shoot em Up, Death Race, Gamer, Wanted there were a bunch in a couple years there.
I am unanashed fan of all listed titles. I've rewatched Gamer several times and been surprised, every time. that it's a fun watch every single time. Death Race reboot is fun as hell with a lower than expected drop in quality when Statham dropped out, I guess flexing in casual female nudity and sticking with gratuitous violence works (well yeah duh I like it fine).

I saw the original Death Race 2000 starring Kung Fu recently. I liked it a lot. I kind of want to check out the Corman-produced, direct-to-video sequel they put out in 2017.

The reboot Death Race wasn't bad, but I only saw the first one. And I like the original more.

And Doomsday is on my list to watch soon.

Gothic- Ken Russel's take on the time Mary Shelly and her husband spent with Lord Byron which would go on to inspire Frankenstein. This is a straight up opiate and booze fueled nightmare. As gorgeous as it is repulsive, the sets and lighting are fantastic. Beyond franticly paced, loud, crass and uncomfortable from start to finish. A lot of reviews refer to it as a gothic fairytale but it's nightmarish in just about every way. I would definitely recommend it but just be prepared for what you're getting into, it's like a classic Hammer movie on bad acid.

It's honestly the most accurate description I can think of.

I'd also throw in some Argento, the lighting is that good.
Early Argento? Or latter day looks-like-it-was-staged-and-filmed-on-video-tape-like-a-low-budget-1980s-porno Argento?

Could not sleep so watched some trash:

Coming 2 America. Terrible, lacks the charm of the original. That said I could not believe all the people they got to return as well as all the other cameos.

Surprised they still portrayed Africans as they did, so that aspect was true to a 1980s film.

Sensation- Doc about the creation of Tommy by The Who. I don't really like The Who but was exposed to them a lot growing up as they are one of my mom's favorite bands. I do have to admit that Tommy is a pretty important piece of work, unfortunately it kicked off a whole movement of rock operas. Most of which are embarrassing self indulgent messes. Pete Townshend is a lot more fucked up then I thought, I didn't realize he was the one that wrote most of the lyrics, I guess I just assumed it was Daltry since he was the lead singer. The doc itself was solid enough, lots of good interviews and footage with a nice amount of insight into their creative process. It's on Prime if anyone cares.

Scream
I saw the new reboot/requel. It's was like watching a movie break the 4th wall without breaking the 4th wall. constant self references and selfawareness...
Old cast is back, but mostly as supporting characters. Good to see david arquette again. The movie would be pretty intolerable except it doesnt take itself seriously. In fact, it goes out of its way to not take itself too seriously. It's explaining itself to itself for half the movie. I don't see this extending the series as it didn't do anything to keep you interested. It thought maybe there would be some good moments, but they are very brief.

Clockwork Orange County- Doc on the SoCal punk scene in the late 70's and early 80's. While a decade or so before my time I was heavily influenced by a lot of these bands and punk culture in general through my brother in law in my formative years. A pretty thorough representation of the bands involved in the scene with some nice interviews and footage. Though I would gladly pay money to never have to hear Henry Rollins speak again. Worth a watch if you've even been a fan of that stuff.

Re: Death Race - in the Statham re-boot, Tyrese Gibson's running gag where he's 100% sure that Ames is gay cracks me up for unknown reasons. Maybe it's just his already-inappropriate delivery of "that is one angry homo" but it gets me every time.

I haven't re-watched Wanted in a while, gonna have to do that soon. I bet I watched that movie five times in the first couple years after it came out but haven't watched it since. Been way too long since I've heard "would someone please KILL THAT MOTHERFUCKER?!"

Wanted videogame adaption is actually pretty cool as well.

I still think it's funny that Wanted was adapted into a movie before the comic had even ended so they seemingly just made up about 40% of it.
