That's assuming he has a wife, what kind of woman would put up with this guy

Have a beautiful successful wife that is very supportive of all of my hobbies. She wasn't alive when Neo Geo came out and doesn't know anything about video games, but she was with me when I bought it and encouraged me to do it. She thinks I spend too much time worrying about the prices of things and should let myself enjoy my success a bit more.

How old is she? 🧐

Not a flex. I don't save boxes for traditional consoles, only mini consoles.
You're throwing away a box that will go for $300 easily on ebay? There are people who want it.

Because I didn't want the box, I was looking for a system that didn't come with a box.

But had the one I bought happened to come with the box, I would have thrown it out or traded it back into the store for store credit.

Too busy/no desire to sell things on ebay. I'd rather pay you $300 than have to take pictures, find a shipping box, go to the post office, etc. A nightmare. No thank you.

As someone with a bunch of unsold stuff in storage, I feel you about not having time to list stuff for sale. But throwing out a nice box for an old console is just criminal in my book.

Don't think that's really a polite thing to answer. I grew up 8 bit era. She grew up 32 bit era.
Then why mention she wasn't around for it's release?

How many times do we have to read the same responses and justifications from different people for over paying.

I waited and looked most places you can think of regularly eventually finding a boxed European system, used as a display piece. More rare than a US system for someone who doesn't know. The system and box looked new, I mean flawless new. The power supply was missing and the store owner said it was unused as far as he remembered. The price paid in 08 or 09 I forget (I may have already been a member here) was $300. That was the Japanese system price at the time on eBay for a just an okay boxed system.

I sent it off to Jeff for unibios and ntsc crystal since you can tell what region it is by it's number. I kept the original bios but the real news...Jeff thought the board looked unused. So a new looking European boxed system that Jeff felt was unused for $300.

You posted wondering if I had a wife and why she'd put up with me. All you really know about me is my recent Neo Geo purchases, so I assumed you were wondering how she felt about me suddenly spending thousands of dollars on Neo Geo stuff. She's too young to know what a Neo Geo is, but she was in favor of me getting one.

Just because I mentioned it's before her time doesn't mean it's polite to post her exact age.

It wasn't a down payment. I don't believe in loans. I pay cash for everything. To buy a home free and clear in cash in my late 20s required selling lots of video games, Magic cards, rare 45s, etc that had skyrocketed in value.
So you sold a bunch of collectibles in the 2000s when they weren't worth anything? This story is not adding up.

Magic cards purchased in 1993 were worth a fortune 20 years later. Early White Stripes singles purchased in the 90s were worth a fortune 15 years later. I also had wayyyy too many video games and decided to downsize to put together the final chunk of cash I needed. I'd only had my Neo Geo stuff for 7 years at that point, but a lot of it had gone up in value in that time, especially the Metal Slug games.

So you were in your 20s in 2013 and bought all this stuff while you were in diapers? Ok bro

As I said, I was in my late 20s when I bought my place. I was 10 when I started buying Magic cards and a teenager when I started buying vinyl (at a time when vinyl was worthless).

That’s nice. Would you be able to post some images of your beautiful and successful wife? We need to know you’re not lying to us.

I've posted pics of us before. Those who matter know I'm not a liar.

It's still easy to get a cheap Shin Samurai Spirits for AES.

A bit less easy to do that and get one in pristine condition.
