Drugs or alcohol seem to be a common denominator in almost all of the stories.

Just be born to the wrong parents. Parents who never disciplined children to maintain good habits, like eating healthy and studying hard. That's the quickest way to fuck up someone's life.

Back in college a buddy and i were bar hopping in wrigleyville. about 2:00 am we're leaving the bar and hit an alley to take a leak. i finish up. my buddy is still peeing as a cop goes by.

well, there was a problem with public urination in that part of town and there was a brief law in place that made people caught also charged with indecent exposure and also a sex crime.

that law ended up being greatly reduced a little while after he was caught, but 15 years later he is still on the sex offender registry. He was kicked out of school. He works at a wendys now. He cant go near schools. He still has to knock on doors when he moves to a new apartment and has to let people know he is on the registry. He's been trying for years to get it fixed and his whole life is fucked because he peed in an alley when he was 22.

Glad i dodged that bullet.

That's so far away from justice it's untrue. Reminds me of your stolen games story, what the fuck is wrong with the police round your way?

This actually happens quite frequently. My high school town gets people listed on sex offenders registry all the time for public urination during their summer festival. The city park is across the street from the elementary school. It doesnt matter if it's 11pm, and the school is closed. We used to always go behind the elementary school to urinate because they literally serve buckets of beer during this festival. If you got caught and angered the cop, boom your life is ruined.

I know a 16 yr old male than banged a 17yr old female. Turned out it was the general's daughter, and that man threw the book at him. He turned 17 shortly after they were caught. He's been a registered offender for his whole life. He was a travelling salesman for cleaning products and magazine. Then he Sold bootleg DVD's. The man is a good hustler, but this has been on his back his whole life.

Post 9/11. I knew a kid in high school that was expelled during this time of oversensitiveness. He had sketched a building blowing up, threw it in the trash. Some teacher fished it out of the trash, and reported him as a threat. He was kicked out of high school permanently. He's been a laborer his whole life, and he's ridiculously paranoid of the government ever since. He thinks they are watching him all the time. The kid was on the spectrum already and needed high school. All because he sketched a building blowing up post 9/11.

The father of one of my nieces was drunk/high and beat an older guy to death one night when he was in his late teens. He served his time (~15 years), got out this year, and, what's he doing now? Out getting shitfaced with his now-teenage daughter. That's quality parenting. My family belongs on Jerry Springer . . .

Deprive them of everything, make them work for it and discipline them when they step out of line. Perfect upbringing for a layer of toughness required for the real world. Remember no one gives a fuck about you.

thats not a cop thing, it was an actual city law. the real injustice was not being able to get it expunged after they pulled the law a few months later.

Marriage and children. Nice if all goes well but if it doesn't, it's the quickest and most efficient way to fuck a person up.

Every time someone queries why I have decided not to have children I repeat the same thing;

If you genuinely do not want to have them you should not, it is not a simple decision, it requires great thought.

Few understand...

This thread is fucking me up. In junior high and high school I had a couple of close calls along these lines. The one in high school involved an interview with a police detective and my room being searched in connection with a mass shooting threat. (Not made by me, guys.) They wanted me to come in for a polygraph, but I declined and it wasn't pursued further.

Lucky for me, this was only post-Columbine, not post-9/11.

I think the one guy at work who got busted for child porn was a good example of how someone can ruin their life.

Fuck "the law" defense. Any prosecutor or judge that uses that as an excuse is just "following orders".

im not defending it. but when its the letter of the law that keeps your kids fed, i dont see any judges or prosecutors looking the other way for any infractions.

Or put it in her butt.

What was the crime? I don't think statutory is easy to apply if the two participants are the same age and everything's consensual. I suppose it varies by state, but still, that's harsh.

My story- the first time I worked for Gamestop, back when I was an undergrad, PS2 games and systems started disappearing. The SM, ASM and I and knew it was internal, and we pegged one guy in particular. A month goes by and the local GameForce calls us and says hey, are you missing a PS2 system? Turns out that the best GA we had had been the one stealing everything, and when he started trading/reselling it to GameForce, they kept track and then called us. It was something like 50-60 games and several systems. He was arrested and served time for theft.

A few years later he showed up and my door to demo vacuums for my then-fiance and I (she had made the appointment for the free knife set). I tried hard not to laugh.

It was statutory, and it was on a military base with the general's daughter. It doesnt matter if the law says otherwise.

Law is quite weak as i learn more and more about it every day. I want nothing to do with our justice system.
- waivers. useless in court.
- pre nuptial agreements - useless in court.
- signature - useless in court.

You do understand laws are made for a reason, right?

Otherwise, I might as well just murder you and take your shit right now, what's wrong with that?
