IGN report.

I guess third party developers are leaving the DS one by one in favor of the iPhone.

Nintendo's next handheld could be coming sooner than we think.

Well golly bob kratchet. That would be nice if it was a totally different handheld all together.

I'm not saying anything bad about the DS... shoot i've owned like 6 of them. They keep pulling me back, but something new is always exciting to look forward to.

The one thing that I learned from a guy that used to work with steve jobs. Kill your cash cow with a new updated product, or somebody like apple will do it for you.

Even if they are working on a successor (which is obvious), the DS is still pretty strong with a lot of good games. It completely whiped the floor with the PSP (The what? Yes, that thing that Sony was so confident of beating Nintendo with)

BUMP

1up reports that the DS2's hardware is as powerful as the GC.

If so, then what's the medium? Cartridge? Disc? Download only?

probably double I'd estimate.

Not sure I care much about it anyway, it'll just be the same old games, not utilizing the hardware to any great extent.

sigh gaming

sigh magician sigh.

Wonder if they will maintain backwards compatibility with DS carts. Did they already drop GBA support on the DSi?

Yup

I think a virtual console is coming for it one day, gb,gbc, gba etc.

Nintendo aren't stupid enough to ignore this chance to make dollar from old games again.

Sorry that I can't share your pessimism.

I'm having far too much fun to consider this a humdrum age of gaming.

Nintendo making another handheld?! Gasp! We've only had 4 versions of the DS in the last 6 years, clearly we need more!

Seriously, fuck that shit, they've turned their handheld into the Madden of video game systems.

They should just make a new design alltogether, and ditch this two screen junk. Actually, I hadn't recently cleaned my glasses and instead of "Rumors of DS's successor" I read "Rumors of DC's successor" and just about had my head explode. A new Sega console would be awesomes!

[OT] Now that's something that'll probably never happen. I doubt Sega Sammy has billions to roll out a new console, because that's what it would take. Sega is able to stay in business because they're a top ten publisher. They should stick to that.
