Once you fire your charge shot if you press the B button before it dissipates it will burst the shot.
It kinda acts like a rechargeable bomb.
Haven't played in a bit but IIRC it will burn out your charge shot for a few seconds.
Another note is the faster you press the shot button (A) changes the way it acts.
Again, from memory, the faster you press it the more dramatic the effect.
If you have a turbo controller it's very easy to see the difference.

Nice job, Dogg!

I dunno, no game has made me feel this old...ever. My hand cramps stupid after 3-4 runs. My eyes can't cipher anything on stage 3 especially that boss.

I'm deciding between Peplos and Aryustailm. I'm hitting 700K on stage 1 with Aryustailm, but he takes so long on bosses I can't hit stage 3 even.

Peplos has great speed and his main shot does good boss damage from a distance (which is needed, for me at least). His power shot sucks for chaining though.

Great music and sound effects in game, title screen, after runs. So good.

Yeah, that stage 3 boss gets me every time if I don’t have the R-type satellite in front. I use a NGCD pad and just use my twitchie thumb.

It's a start at least! No missed into stage 3 and lost all my lives midway through the level. Need some more practice on the later stages.

Slight improvement, my wall if the stage 3 boss as it's the longest by a lot compared to the previous two.

3rd boss battle is long. I'm struggling with it.

Finally figured out how to "break", but seems more trouble than its worth. I score better w/o trying to focus on it.

Yeah all my scores have been C ranked.

At first I was like wtf, but I also read you don’t get a higher overall rank unless you finish the game.

I’m working on that next. Stage 6 was completely new to me.
Apparently there’s 7 levels in total, so I’m very close!

I don't score well with Peplos but it's my best against the 3rd boss. Will try to learn to score better with it.
