I've been reading many posts about the release of the Strikers Cart, whats your thoughts?

Worth it?

Only 50 made...collectors item?

For the record, I bought one, but I cancelled it because I blew up my car again (Homeslice comes in with the "Damn 4 bangers") and I'm not too fond of !arcades! product...

What are your thoughts?

If it would be more moderately priced, say $150 or so, I would probably go for it.

Since there are much more economical versions of it on the Saturn and PSX, I opted to pass.

It can't be much different from the other revs, right? Only hardcore fans could appreciate it at that price.

I'm more interested in the next release - Super Dodge Ball. Any price I'd pay for that would mean cheating the seller.

Arcades solutions, yet what have they solved?
Making games in extremely limited quanities, is only a money maker, I find it amazing that Shawn would deal witha guy that shot him down in chat from the begining.
AES2? Notice how it dissapears from existence?
Strikers release, delayed one month, delayed from the 27th of june, then it was the 30th, then a week later.
Shawn needs to look at the obvious, Arcade is pulling this on purpose, they have the resources, and if they cannot crank out a measily 50 carts then whats the point.

Then magically a load of sacrificed Ganryu's cases have been swapped and redone stickers on a samurai series? You make the call, I made mine, the first time shawn was bagging on arcade. Where do people stand lately? I supported arcade when they released the phantom 1. However this is ruining there rep, real quick.

Honest opinions, are dangerous these days.

I pre-ordered a Strikers cart, but even so, I still think that the price for said item is damned steep (prohibitively so) - especially when one takes into consideration that it isn't even an official SNK product that may or may not retain or gain value over time. I too would've like to have seen these unofficial carts put forth at competitive prices that more gamers could afford, but I guess that's simply an impossibility, given the relatively low demand for these things. Oh well, that's just my two cents worth of rambling on this topic...

Notice how things flow?
NGFuck sells there version for 1400 or so,.
then this goes for a EXPENSIVE 400 and then they use morons like ngf as a scapegoat to make there CART look cheaper, in my eyes thats a ripoff.
Useing ngf as a foot stool is no better, if the crappy ngf conversion did not exist in the first place would these have ever been considered a make?
Think about it....
People this is why IMHO I buy mvs games made on there native, MVS.
if ngf is important to be even in comparison then that is sad.
People need to come to the thick realization that 400 or 1400 is not worth ANY game. I thought arcade was going to be fan based like SNK? Funny I don't ever remember SNK releasing games for 400.
What the fuck went wrong. The whole market is just made for collectors, thats the sad shitty truth.

The neo market is seen as a money market. Most of the real fans that play there damn games and not put them in ziploc bags have long since left the scene. (there are many left, but not as many as you would think! )

We do not need a second run of this.

So today I say this.
I am standing on SNK'S side none of this money made off these goes to SNK (the originater of the damn system in the first place)
To me this is a high quality conversion.
No better then ngf.

in my opinion, they're converting carts, and then selling them as official, but "Bare".

Krausers right, This is getting out of control. The games are becoming gold chains for modern day Mr "T's".
It doesent matter about the games any more. What matters is how much you paid for it, or how many rare carts you own.
It's becoming a circular problem. The rip-off artists like NGF, started it with their freaked crap, and we all know these carts werent cheap when they were new. But come on! a grand for a game, any game is plain fucking stupid! Similarly $300 for a converter that should run you to $30-$40, is also plain Fucking mad! But its working. And people will keep on buying. What will it be next week?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The price of all these "new" items, be they Converted carts, or converters, is not based on their production costs, or for that matter their R&D costs. The price is based on, How nuch will neo gamers pay,TO THE LAST DOLLAR! for an item that they percieve to be "new" or "rare".

And people say Sony take the piss by charging £300 for a PS2!

I re-entered the scene 7 years after I pulled my Neo from the closet to fire up Magician Lord...

What caught my interest were the prices...when I saw MS going upwards of $1000 I had to get in...

I had a U.S. Metal Slug, I ordered from SNK when I bought an RF and a Memory Card from them in 96....Total? less than $300

My dumbass sold my Neo shit to get a PSX....

If there was no price inflation, there would be no scene...

When I re entered, I saw games I've spent $200 on going for $50!!!

I'm content with what I have now...

A CD with my classics...an AES with the only 4 reasons IMO to own it...MSX, MS3, LB2, SS2.

If the inflation ceases then new fans will indeed surface.

This shouldn't be an "executive" hobby...

It should be enjoyed by EVERYONE...

The amount of money I invested in my games is pathetic on my part...

I paid the INFUCKINGSANE prices...

Look at Matt (GML), Slice (Ryan), Nick (RaGuS)...these guys are 15 and want to be involved as much as they can...

I passed before the idea was even conceived. Anyone remember how Shawn revealed !Arcade! as the ones selling that $2000 Neo floor mat everyone here deemed to be a fake? All in the name of charging what people may or will pay. Strikers is a joke. $400, C $600+ for me, for fan-made, home brew game. High-quality piracy. You going to support it now? Just because they took an anti-Dion & Chris stance?

I worked it out and I have spent an average of $35/game over 74 games, "common," "uncommon" & "rare." Want deals? Even outside Japan? Just be patient in searching for them and do not pay inflated prices. It took me over a year to get back Magician Lord after I sold it, only because I did not want to pay more than $30 for it. I even could have had it much sooner but problems sniping (see Steve's thread) delayed that. Took me over a year and a half to get Robot Carnival on LD, but finally I did, at the best price I ever saw. Let your money earn some interest instead of throwing it away to have your game today.

Promoting yet another "company" who will really just screw you for all you're worth as an entity out to "help" the Neo community is crazy to me.

They never claimed to have SNK authorization, they never claimed to be SNK and they never claimed that Strikers is an authentic cart. They only perceived the possibility of a market for high quality conversions that look just as good or better than SNK's products. Considering I'm ready to immediately purchase their next conversion, I would say that there is a market. How big of a market? I don't know but at least 1. <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

I would say that there is a market. How big of a market?

It obviously isn't spectacularly huge, or else "!Arcade!" would be producing a much larger initial run of the Strikers carts. On the grand scale of things, 50 carts is an insignificantly miniscule amount. I sincerely hope to see this project succeed - after all, I did pre-order a Strikers cart. However, I do think that some of the people here (even TonK) have made valid, albeit harsh comments on the whole situation.
