Where to begin? I think !Arcade! is a fantastic businessman. They saw the demand for a converter that could play protected games and they delivered. Personally, I am not interested in Strikers or AES2 at the proposed prices but I can respect other people's desire in these products. I do not have an overtly negative attitude towards !Arcade! like some of you nor do I think they are the second coming of christ. They are businessmen and they are in it for money. Is that bad? Hell no.
The only gripe I have against them is that they refuse to admit that their converter has a problem playing on older systems. They place the blame on the systems by saying that they are overused, or the cart slots are too loose..well you know the drill. However, those same systems play every home cartridge made by SNK. Seems to me the converter should be able to do the same. Its like Microsoft releasing a new operating system and saying we will not work on Packard Bell because they make horrible computers. While their statement about Packard Bell may be true, their stance is certainly not acceptable.
How to fix the !Arcade! converter problem you ask? First, I think they should make an earnest effort to get their converter working with all systems. Second, they should offer free replacement for owners of old converters. Finally, the cartridge slot replacement can be provided as a last option but they should let you buy the new connectors at cost price and install them yourself. Shipping to Canada and back plus $50 they typically charge for the new connectors adds up to over $100 which is too much.
I am glad !Arcade! is around and with a few changes in their business practices they will have my full support.
