He forgave student loan debt for over 4 million people. And did it without new taxes, instead taking it from existing bloated bullshit programs. He has my respect for that.

A necessary relief for so many Americans. The entire student loan system is predatory and unfair to so many young, myopic hopeful people that aren't given adequate caveats to the process. It's all a ponzi scheme at this point anyway, emotionally validating people that shouldn't be in college for the things they're there for.

As for Dementia, I watched my mom and my dad go through it.

Dementia and cancer are two very unfortunate things that shouldn't be wished on anyone. I wouldn't wish either of those things on Hitler and I mean that.

There is justice, there is vengeance and there is grievance. There is no place for vengeance or grievance in a functioning society in the real world.

I’m more disappointed about AmeriCorps being on the chopping block again, than the Presidential shit show.

AmeriCorps should not be facing the chopping block, now-or ever again. It should be enshrined as the PeaceCorps is; a vital, non-armed National Service program.

This sucks. My niece just joined Americorps... if the expected cuts go through for FY25 they'll be eliminating 71,000 jobs. New recruits will probably be first to go.

Instead we can just keep backdoor funneling money to big banks.

As an alum of the 2nd Class (1995/1996) of NCCC, I really hoped 30 years on, its funding would be secure. For every 1$ budget expended, we brought $7 of improvements to the communities served.

My class also survived (and agreed to work 4 mos without wages) during the late ‘95 government shut down. It’s a bi-partisan program, that helps *all* Americans (and non-Americans that reside here). We were made whole in the end.

I sincerely hope your niece and her mates are able to complete their term. AmeriCorps changed my life.

He might have (as would I), but he admittedly handled it perfectly and this will likely be a huge boon for his campaign. As much as I loathe the guy, he is very damn good at projecting an image of himself that is favorable to people and him throwing up that hand will likely make plenty of people feel proud to support him or sway some to vote his way.
