For whatever reason, I've felt like watching the X-Files again.

I watched a good chunk of the early seasons when they aired, but apparently tuned out sometime around season 4 or 5.

I know people said the show got really bad in the later years, and I'm wondering if there's any good solid spot to call it quits, or if I should try to sit through the whole thing.

Is there a specific point where the show just goes completely to shit?

I'm a big X-Files fan. I think anything up to about the end of Season 7 is solid. The first five seasons are the best, though.

I don't know much about the order of the seasons.
I stopped being able to watch faithfully as I worked
nights the x files came on in my later adult life.
I do remember not caring too much about mulder being
gone in the later seasons.
In fact, it kind of irked me that they tried to bring him back.
I was perfectly fine with Robert Patrick,
who is a pretty decent actor to put in the role.

I guess you know they are having talks about doing one more season.
Maybe it was good that Chris Carter's amazon prime series got cancelled.

This ^

Pay people hundreds of dollars for them to advertise to you. No use for it

Same.

I can just about tolerate bbc as there are no adverts here but other than that I'll just watch boxsets when a season ends.

To answer the original question though it's pretty much agreed that it went to shit at series 4 but for me I remember watching an episode with an evil twin and some circus freaks and thinking right, that's me done then. Don't think it was even the end of season 2.
