WTB: Neo Geo Aes Gold

Is the only thing that makes a "gold" system the box? There are no differences in the console itself, right?

The US had two systems........ Gold and Silver. Both with NEO-AEC as the model number, the BIOS is also different than the JPN version...... Gold came with 2 controllers and a Game........ Silver 1 controller and no game

You might be able find some locally. I'm being very serious about this. I see Gold AES units in the boxes come up quite frequently in the local classifieds.
