Watched both seasons of "You" - like both quite a bit, it felt like Dexter in that you are rooting for "the bad guy", but had enough differences it felt like its own show, he's a generally a nice sociopath and the gals he's interested in are enjoyable to look at. Both seasons had good twists that felt believable enough that they worked.

The Irishman - it was good, great performances as you'd expect from this group. Didn't leave you with that epic experience that Godfather and Casino leave you with. Worth the watch and time commitment, but not what I was hoping for.

iZombie is fine as a serial dramedy. We really liked Buffy and Angel - if you like those, that doesn't mean you will like this. It isn't as witty and only the main character and the one drug dealer/funeral home owner have good energy / enjoyable to watch. All the others are suboptimal and the show would be wise to start culling them and replacing with interesting people. Santa Clarita Diet is a much better show in the genre - much funnier and a slew of fun people.

Started S4 of the Expanse. It's trying to do too much and is losing its luster, which is sad. Too many story lines means all are lacking necessary time and detail. Hoping it turns around.

Hot Take:

Travis Fimmel was the show's weakest asset.

Agreed. The times when he became cruder I did enjoy his output though.

I thought everything revolving around Atheltsan was cheesy as fuck. How badly written was all that? There was this deep bond he had with the most powerful characters in that part of the world, a mix of sex and spirituality, it just was completely unbelievable and hardly necessary.

Much of the Anglo Saxon stuff I thought was horribly bloated and uninteresting.

Did you enjoy Veronica Mars and/or Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

If so, you will like iZombie. It is a very loose adaptation of the source material but it's a very well written and acted show.

Instead of being a grave digger the protagonist is a morgue doctor, but she still takes on characteristics of people whose brain she eats and uses their memories to solve their murders. It's also exclusively zombies, so no other supernatural creatures like in the comic.

It sets up like a crime procedural but it has season-long story arcs and is equal parts comedy, drama, and action.

I watched some episodes and it’s not really my thing. Felt like a CW show with a lower budget than Arrow and less entertainment.

Sabrina is a good series in the Buffy vein. I particularly like the fact that it's something I can watch together with my 15 year old daughter. One of those strange intersections

Oh boy

Wait until you get to the gay sexual shit in season 3, or explain to your daughter that Theo has her breasts cut off in real life... because of a belief that she’s non binary.

It’s a weird fucking show, that tries to normalize narcissistic auto gender mutilation, rather than just accepting and loving the body that you have. All while reminding viewers to praise satan.

Hah. Fun times. Strange times.
Sex Education is even stranger in my opinion, creating a fictitious British village/school/group of people that are basically Americans with British accents. It's set in a watered down Pulp music video, and everyone is very sexually open and cool about everything. Painfully unenglish.
My conspiracy theory is that it is presenting the viewer with what post Brexit England could-should be.
There's nuggets of gold in it, but these are mostly like peanuts in shit.

Life on Mars showed up on Amazon Prime Japan about 6 months back, so I got to show that to the wife after having built it up to her for years. And then literally last night, they finally got Ashes to Ashes, so we've immediately started on that. They only have the first season so far, but I've been wanting to rewatch this show for a looooong time now.

Just finished Swamp Thing.

It was really good, which makes it suck all that much more that it was canceled.

I think I watched the Swamp Thing cartoon pilot on that VHS tape about 20 times. Was obsessed with it and the second Swamp Thing movie around the age of 4 to 7.

Not sure what to watch next, we just got done w/ You Season 2. Wife tried watching Mandalorian but she got bored of it, so ill binge watch that myself.

Hunters comes out Friday, looks fun.

It’s Bruno! (Netflix)

I haven’t been taken with a TV show this strongly, since NJPW landed their AXS deal.

Hunters might be fun but I have extremely low expectations for it.

The strength of Inglourius Basterds was that Christoph Waltz was surprisingly good in his role.

That won’t be the strong point for any other pubescent masturbatory Nazi revenge fantasy. Variety of reasons of course, foremost that suspension of disbelief is stretched thin.

Last good portrayal of Nazis was in the early seasons of The Strain, full stop.

Currently working my way through season 1 of Homeland on Hulu. Is it worth watching all the way through? There's something crazy like 93 episodes counting the final season that just started.

You won't get the same mileage out of later seasons as when they aired. Seasons 6 and 7 were very on point with US current events and the zeitgeist and fears of the time. I wasn't crazy about it early on, but the show has some good drama and mandy patinkin is top shelf.

Also I heard it's got Claire Danes tiddys. Is that true?
