I'm glad I purchased snow tires for my WRX and have a truck with a plow on it.
Yeah...winter is apparently going to go out with a "fuck-you" this year. The low on Wed is -3, the high is 9. I have to have my wife at the hospital at 6am for surgery that morning so it's going to be a cold one...
I know this isn't much compared to those in Canada...but last year was the coldest temps I have felt in my 37 years on this planet. We hit and honest -20 Jan '14...with winds in the 20mph range frostbite would occur in less than 10 min of exposure. It snowed the day before and I had to shovel that morning...any exposed skin felt like it was on fire...
Only two rules to winter driving:
-if you get stuck, you were going too slow
-if you crash, you were going too fast

I should really just get all-weather or winter tires instead of super sports.
but what's more upsetting is that i won an auction on ebay this past sunday... and the seller hasn't been able to send out my item yet because he's back east and says the post office has been closed because of the weather. big time negative feedback!
Your tire selection would probably help more than a change in vehicle as long as the snow/ice isn't piled up higher than the clearance of an average car. Even a Miata runs great with a set of Blizzaks.
