@neo_mao They're very different. In practical terms, a hybrid is just a gas car that gets better mileage. You're still buying gas and you don't need to charge.
I agree the Tesla interior is weird, and unlike the EV offerings from more mainstream companies, almost no attempt was made to make it control like a normal car. Old people will struggle. It's meant for early adopters who want something new. All the indicators are on one touchscreen, and controls are minimal or on-screen. The lack of coasting when you let off the throttle (even in the most lenient mode) is seriously annoying to me, especially since I need to switch between the conventional-driving RAV4 and the Tesla.
I mentioned before that a long-distance road trip in the Tesla was annoying. Plenty of charge for driving all over the local metro area, but long distance, forget it.
A plug-in hyrbid is the ideal, because you can run it as an EV, but you also have the long distance option. Too bad they still aren't common to come by in most of the US.
