Hopefully Skip Bayless dies David Carradine style tonight.

Whomever it was who said “any father watching can relate here. The idea of playing sports professionally with your son is something that all of us would dream of” is definitely spot on. I can’t hate the pick at the end of the 2nd round as most of the guys you’re taking there aren’t NBA ready anyway.

It's a nice gesture to do for a guy that won you a title (and looks good for future free agents who want to come to LA) but that's all it is. An empty gesture. The kid sits on the bench and plays a few minutes with his dad before getting sent to the G-League to ride out his contract. Nothing to get in your feelings about in either direction.

The more important thing for the Lakers is not giving LeBron a stupid amount of money that fucks up any opportunity to actually improve the team and avoid the second salary apron... but I'm sure they'll fuck that up.

Nah, he wants to play with his kid, now is the time to roll out the offer of the vet minimum lol

I mean... there's a big gulf between vet minimum and max money over several years for a 40-year-old who's about to break the record for games/minutes played.

Unless, of course, they want to just be the late-era Kobe Lakers that weren't competitive and just doing an extended farewell tour. I'm totally fine with that... the Lakers being a non-factor is always a win for the fans of every other team.

i wouldn't have such an issue with this if the extreme bronsexual wouldn't use this to add to lebron's case to be a goat. they keep injecting irrelevant and/or non-basketball shit to try to elevate lebron, like "lebron didn't have any drama like jordan's gambling issue. he's a great person. that makes him the goat." on a DC sports radio program, some dude on 106.7 specifically said "what did jordan's son do? this makes lebron the goat."

That one lob from Bronny to Dad over Jordan Poole's stupid fucking head while the Lakers are down 40 points to the Wizards and then they finally send him to South Bay for good will be historic I suppose.

Edit re JJ Redick, hottest coaching candidate in the league, Bron's second-best friend but to get the job he has to say sure, let's just light that last roster spot on fire.

Okay one last edit.. Pelinka justifying the pick, Christ man.

Sun ain’t doing nothing next year, cross your finger for injuries….. but nets got another 5 first rd pick and swap for mikal bridges .

And bronny lands with his dad … Celtic could have used their pick 54th to call lakers bluff
I suspect next season will be a tire fire, and they will actively shop Durant by mid-season. Ishiba will be forced to eat major humble pie.

Durant won't return enough value to make a long term difference.

They have to trade Booker if they want to dig out of the hole they've put themselves in.

Booker is going nowhere. Suns fans would riot and the PR hit would be extremely negative and long lasting. That's like the Lakers trading Kobe, or the Nuggets trading Jokic. He IS this team, and far and away this team's most valuable asset.

Trading Durant won't be about getting enough value, it'll be about dumping his huge salary and getting picks/roleplayers, maybe a starter.

He'll be 31 when his contract expires and it's doubtful he'll want to sign an extension there given the total incompetence of the franchise. Trade him now for a haul and rebuild. Otherwise you're doomed to be just good enough to get bounced early in the playoffs every year like the Carmelo Nuggets.

No way the Celtics should be that petty. It would've been cute for a few minutes, but let the Lakers deal with the fallout from that silliness.

Still in his prime, still the face of the franchise, still going to be here unless something crazy happens and he demands a trade.

Trading him now would be an absolute disaster. Fuck rebuilds, we suffered through almost an entire decade of horrendous basketball trying to get players like Booker through the draft.

With rare exception, the Suns have always been at their best when they make smart trades while trying to win. Rebuilding just isn't their forte, nor is drafting unless they get real lucky.

The days of the Suns doing anything smart are long in the past. Accept it. More Bradley Beal style disasters is your future.

Not 100% true, Ishiba might just be the typical "new owner" who comes in and tries to make big moves. If he learns from this, they can recover.

That is exactly what happened. He wanted to be a contrast to the previous owner by spending big money and making big splashes, but it's clearly backfired.

I think he's smart enough to have learned that this was a bad idea, but the team is also married to those decisions for the next few years whether or not he has.

They don't have the roster to win and they don't have the assets to get better. They're just going to be in neutral until Booker leaves.

Not if they can trade out Durant, or get Beal discontented enough to agree out of his no-trade clause. Trading Booker isn't the answer, period.
