Shock Troopers 2nd Squad Arcade - Demo mode has sound, right?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but Shock Troopers 2nd Squad does have sound when it's in Demo mode on a MVS, correct?

I just got my 4 slot cleaned up and working again, and scrubbed my carts a great bit. All 4 carts are now cycling fine, no visual or sound flaws, aside from from Shock Troopers 2nd Squad not playijng any sound during demo mode. Works fine in game.

Not sure if I should give the cart another scrub, or maybe it's a bootleg with a bug. It does have a unique "red star" sticker on the cart which none of my other MVS carts have.

Thanks

Check the service menu. Demo sound can be turned on/off for individual games.

If changing the demo sound in the soft dip settings doesn't work, clear the backup ram.

Thanks to all that answered. It looks like the service menu button on my MVS is on the fritz. It has no effect, though the other one works OK.

I took all the carts out and cleaned them and re-arranged them in various configurations but it didn't make a difference. I'll ask my wizard friend to come look at the service menu button. For now I'm fine with how it is.

Thanks all

None of that fanciness! You kids and your niceties! <shakes my copy EGM December 1994>
You don't have $15?

If you have this, you can just hold BCD at startup.

Also, you could just turn on dip switch 1 (of the bank of 8 switches on the motherboard). Did you do that?

Thanks to all who responded. It turns out my Player 1 joystick wasn't registering down, which I didn't notice in my driving/puzzle/sports games...

I cleaned up my contacts for the joysticks, went in to hardware test mode, was able to go down to the software settings.. as soon as I loaded the settingsfor Shock Troopers 2nd Squad it was set to play sound on demo and allow continues as default. I didn't make any changes and it's all set.

Dang this game is super fun.

It seems like people think Shock Troopers 1 is even better, I gotta try it.

Thanks again all.
