I assume since it's just emulated it doesn't have the control tweaks (or stupid announcer) from ye olde Xbox version?

Really? Man I thought I saw something in the ad/trailer for it saying something like "36 characters" and that secrets were available right off the bat.

From what I've seen you just have to hit the right shoulder contoller button on the second row of characters for each side, and you can select them there.

All over Twitter I've been seeing love for this game without any fear of reprisal. Won't somebody do something? Someone has to stop these noobs and put them in their place! It's not gonna be me, I've always had a soft spot for the game. lol

That's kind of what happened to me. I didn't play it myself I think until about 2005 when I got the MVS kit. I usually react well to something if I'm already prepared for the worst.

I was reading the youtube comments section (something I never do) of videos for this from creators I like and it was a shockingly positive response to the game.
I had no idea people actually liked this game...
I'm not going to say otherwise as I just let people dig what they dig, but it is still weird as hell to see.

For my part, I recognize the game is bad but it has some bits that the super fan in me can't resist.
Whenever people want to play it on my AES cab, I say 'okay, but it's not as cool as you're hoping it'll be'.
They end up liking it for about 15 minutes and then they notice all the silly shit.

we played the playstation version versus a couple of weeks ago
it really is like st, but everything still feels weird, I think it's because of the sprites
still, not nearly as bad as the arcade version, which plays like a really bad mortal kombat.

Kinda reminds me of how people sometimes now say the Star Wars prequels are good, or 2600 ET is good. Without the context of being there when the game came out and being influenced by the group think of the time, I can see people concluding they like it.
