Wow, that would be rough. That's tougher than anything I've ever done, GoW-wise. Kudos.

My thanks, sir. It's my OCD nature...if I really like a game, I have to have everything unlocked for it.

Tonight, I'm going to blow through the whole thing on easy in less than 5 hours for the last trophy. After spending last night being raped savagely by God mode's difficulty curve, it's time for my revenge.

I need to do that too, then it's platinum trophy time. ;)

Don't know if I'll bother with God mode though. Maybe.

Don't forget, the quickest way to move is the right-analog dash alternated with the Hermes Rush (R1).

If you've completed the Challenge of the Gods, use the Dairy Bastard costume for infinite magic to make your life much easier.

Wait, so Roll -> R1 -> Roll -> R1 ad nauseum?

And Dairy Bastard to quickly kill stuff?

Well damn, that might make the easy play through fun. As it stands right now, I'm bored going through it. I am DEFINITELY gonna start over and do it this way.

And WHY can't you skip the cutscenes? They were cool when I first saw them and when I revisited the game a few years later but now i'm just irritated at being forced to watch them.

LOL. This has been my major gripe.

At least in the collection, you can skip the developer screen.

Yep. Just like roll-jump-roll-jump in the Ninja Gaiden games.

Yeah. I need to do the Challenge of the Gods...

It is annoying, I'll grant. Not tear-your-hair-out annoying, but definitely something that could stand to be addressed.

Also, it's kind of funny how much better Kratos looks in Chains of Olympus than he does in GoW1.

Loved doing that to fly through the stages. I don't like that for NG 2 for the 360 they took away the roll and gave him a kind of hop move instead. For NG Sigma for PS3 (the first one), did they give him the hop or did they keep the roll? I don't remember...

Yeah. I need to do the Challenge of the Gods...

Is that the only way to unlock the costume? Because I have it available in Collection, but I don't remember doing the challenges in GoW Collection. I know I completed them within the last six months for one of the versions, but now I can't remember which one.

It had to be collection. I've only played the original GoW once in the past few years and it was the Collection version. That's the only thing that makes sense.

It is annoying, I'll grant. Not tear-your-hair-out annoying, but definitely something that could stand to be addressed.

Do the cutscenes add to the total play time? If they don't, it's not really a big deal. If they do, that's just bollocks.

Also, it's kind of funny how much better Kratos looks in Chains of Olympus than he does in GoW1.

Saying goodbye to your daughter in Elysium before murdering its happy souls will diminish your textures.

Is Chains the only game where Calliope is named? I don't remember his family being named in any of the PS2 games or GoW 3.

I believe the roll is intact.

Is that the only way to unlock the costume?
AFAIK, yes.

Do the cutscenes add to the total play time?
They do not. Also, you have to pause (with select) in order to halt the game clock. The upgrade (start) screen does not pause it.

If memory serves, he says her name when he encounters the Pandora statue after getting past the three judges in Hades the first time.

Beat GoW last night.

Is there a trophy bug for the gold trophy for climbing the rotating columns? The trophy conditions say to take no damage when climbing. I got cut to ribbons, so was surprised when I got to the top and unlocked the trophy.

That's the same thing I have left over to do and was just going to verify somewhere that the Dairy Bastard and Easy Mode still yield the trophy, since some places said it has to be on Normal. I don't view speed running through the game as "fun" necessarily so that five hours will literally be just so I can get a single Platinum trophy. Don't have the energy to 100% any other game atm.

It is accomplished.

100% trophies on God Of War.

Turns out I did the Challenge Of The Gods on the collection, because I had the Dairy Bastard unlocked. But more importantly, I had the 'I'll Take The Physical Challenge' trophy and just never bothered to check.

Only two to get for God Of War 2, "15 Min Fight Scene" (battle your way to the loom chamber in under 10 minutes) and "You Know The Germans Make Good Stuff" (collect all Uber Chests.)

I think I'm gonna enjoy getting those two. Surprised I missed one of the Uber Chests...

Thanks for the tips, mang. Dairy Bastard makes the game stupid easy, but it was fun raping the game with unlimited magic.

Too bad nothing was ever made of the storyline based treasures that got unlocked. the 'pissed off brother' one is a fairly bland plotline, but he would have made an interesting sub boss. And the whole 'Zeus was your father' one was retconned out of existence by the finale of God Of War 2, where Kratos learns it from Athena just after accidentally fatally wounding her.

The fate of Chronos one is very intriguing, however. A modern day exploration into the ruins of Pandora's Temple would have been an interest clash of genres.

I think the next GoW game is gonna be about his brother. Zeus mentions him at the end of III when he says to Gaia: "Maybe you should have used the other one" or some such.

And they didn't really retcon Kratos's heritage. It's just that if you beat GoW I on God mode you found out early (and before Kratos did).

In the GoW treasure, his mother tells him just before she dies.

But in GoW 2, Athena tells him...just before she dies. Canonically, he didn't know until the end of GoW 2. A little bit of story nitpickery, but that's what I initially meant.

Now that I think of it, I don't know that 'retcon' is the right term for it. 'Ignored the GoW treasure version' is probably a more accurate description.

As for the brother being 'the other one', I think that Sony would be cool to actually use that character as the main for the next game (if they do one.) It's be a whole DMC 4/Legacy Of Kain vibe, playing a character pissed off at a previous main character.

Finished GOW3 couple weeks ago. I enjoyed it. Though can't say I'll ever play it again.

Oh... I thought only the player found out about Kratos's origin in that movie. My bad. At least they stuck with the overall premise.

As for his brother, it seems pretty clear he's gonna be evil. Getting to play as him a la Virgil in DMC3 would be pretty rad though.

I just played it a second time, and this game is definitely better the next go 'round. To each their own though I guess.

The firmware prior to the linux elimination will work, unless Sony adjusted their software detection and requires GoW III to run on the latest version.

God Of War II Titan Mode-FINISHED

The hardest thing I've ever done in a video game. Shinobi for PS2 is very, very close, but this was a fucking beast.

You don't get a trophy for it, but it's satisfying seeing everything unlocked.

Now I just need to get the 'Reach Clotho's Chamber' trophy and all trophies will be mine.

Damn son. I continue to be impressed.

(That trophy is really easy to get, by the way. I got it on normal mode with time to spare.)

Thanks.

If you're ever stupid enough to frustrate yourself with this bullshit level of difficulty (seriously, it feels totally untested), make sure you save all your red orbs for Athena's Blades and Atlas Quake.

Saving the first translator is fucking BULLSHIT on Titan Mode.

Bullshit. Fuck that. Glad I never have to do that without cheating again.

Taiso, how did you get passed the speeding barricades in The Challenge of Poseidon? I know you have to dash, but I guess the timing must be precise, huh? That section has been annoying the crap outta me for the past 3 days.

The Kronos level totally fucked me due to bad design. Right after Kratos does the disemboweling and all that, I wasn't exactly sure what to do, wondered if I was supposed to run back and finish him off, so I jumped back over to the first available little platform.

Big mistake. You get trapped there if you do that, can't jump off, and the stupid game recognizes that as a goddamn checkpoint, of all things, for some reason (no, there's not an R1 to grab, I tried for 10 minutes).

Fuck me, I'm not interested in doing that stupid long-ass boring boss fight all over again.

edit: I admit there's an outside chance I'm just completely clueless and I missed something minuscule on that goddamn platform. Yeah, there's also that, I suppose.

I do believe you're supposed to smash up the nail embedded in his belly with the Cestus. That triggers the next stage of the battle (i.e. Cronus's demise).

You mean in GoW1? Yeah, just hold R1 to do the swim dash. You should only need to do it 2 or 3 times — I always made it through with time to spare.

swim down normally straight into the first foxhole, and the barricade should be at your back. Wait a moment for the next barricade and then follow it out and do 2 swim dashes into the next hole, then after the next barricade, swim out and look for a hole in the floor to swim into.

Yeah, that part annoyed the shit out of me. There's been more shit in GOW1 to make me put down the controller and walk away than GOW3. Right now, it's part 2 of the Ares fight. Soooo annoying.
