He will always be best remembered as Paulie, and he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the first movie.

A truncated list of his other work via Wikipedia:
Chinatown (1974), The Gambler (1974), The Killer Elite (1975), Convoy (1978), Uncle Joe Shannon (1978), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), A Summer to Remember (1985), Back to School (1986), Last Exit to Brooklyn (1990), Mickey Blue Eyes (1999), Transamerica (2005), Win Win (2011), and Bottom of the 9th (2019)

Rocky > Rocky Balboa > Rocky II > Creed III > Creed > Creed II > Rocky III > Rocky IV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rocky V

Burt Young's performance is pretty much the only good part of Rocky V.

Wow, RIP. I often watch the Rocky movies with IV being my favorite.
Rocky V is probably the most realistic one ever made imo before that area where the last fight scene took place turned into zombie land.

Realistic? What part was realistic? Paulie's robot servant wife? A former heavyweight champion being beaten to death on live television right after an elaborate James Brown performance?

Today I learned that the actor who played Paulie was still alive in 2023 at some point.

RIP

Besides the Rocky series, he had a great part in Back-to-School:

That's what I remember him from the most.

I also thought he had kicked it at least a decade ago.

I think a lot of people assumed he was dead because they killed his Paulie character off-screen in between Rocky Balboa and Creed.

Wait...you're telling me Burt Young was 36 when he filmed Rocky?

Makes sense, he was playing the older sibling to the early-30s Adrian, and Sylvester Stallone and Talia Shire are both 6 years younger than Burt in real life.

Like Steve said, he just looked old.

Seems like many people looked a lot older back then in their mid/late 30s. Either that or our perception is just skewed now that we've reached that age range (or beyond).
