Adding a floor general like jrue will definitely up bostons chances , so Portland got 2 injury bugs and a mid/low first for the GS and unprotected 1st for 2029 might be turn into a lottery pick .
Boston doesn't have the bigs. Porzingis and Horford are not going to hold up in a 7 game series against Giannis and Lopez or Jokic and Gordon.

The Celtics are easily the second best team in the East and now have three all-star level players in their prime who aren't injury prone. That's like 80% of the battle in the NBA at this point. I'm not picking them to win the title until Tatum and Brown can prove they won't choke when it matters but they've been to the Finals once and the EC Finals 4 times with lesser talent than they have now (going through the Bucks multiple times to do so). Plus the Sixers are toast and Giannis is seemingly always playing hurt these days. Sure, Jokic would run roughshod over anyone they put out on the floor but that's true for basically 90+% of the league. Any strategy for beating the Nuggets isn't going to revolve around "stopping" Jokic anyway.

The Suns are basically the new Clippers. Their chances are purely theoretical until their stars can play more than 50 games and not break down in April/May. That and they're going to have zero team defense as currently constructed.

The Nugs are obviously the favorites and they're 100% my pick to win the title but a lot can happen in nine months.

The team that played the Nuggets the toughest last season was the Timberwolves, who used a three big rotation (Gobert/Towns/Reid in the regular season, Anderson replacing the hurt Reid in the playoffs) with two always on the floor together. One guy plays Jokic straight up and the other plays drop coverage to defend the rim -- the same strategy that the bubble Lakers employed with Howard/AD/McGee in the WCF to beat the Nugs.

The Celtics were much, much better equipped to attempt that defense last year with Williams/Horford/Williams than they are now with Horford/Porzingis/Kornet. Especially with Horford another year older -- the drop off is coming. He'll be 38 during the Finals this season. Williams was always going to be an injury risk but so is Porzingis. In fact, Porzingis is already injured. He should be healthy soonish but foot injuries for guys over 7 feet tend to recur and linger.

Holiday is a big upgrade over Smart or Brogdon but he has to replace them both. The depth has suffered.

Boston got softer.

I'm gonna have to go to a Bucks game or two this year. I saw one last year for Gian is, and he didn't even play. :(

Embiid can't even make it through a NBA season. He should not be playing for anyone in the Olympics.

Bradley Beal out tonight with a back injury.

Took the Suns' new lineup precisely zero games to get hurt.

Dwight Howard was accused of sexual assault and as part of his denial claimed all sexual activity involving himself, a cross dresser, and another dude was consensual.

That's quite the coming out party.

Nugs start the season with a win, raise the banner, get the rings.

29 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 steal, 1 block for Jokic. Easy work.

Lakers played the same way they played all season last year. Go down big, make a comeback to get the fans excited, and finally, lose the game at the end.

I'm expecting it to be this way all season. At least one of the big 3 for them is going to on the injury list.

Even if all three of them are 100% healthy for the rest of the season the roster construction is still shit.

You guys don't have a point guard in your rotation. Booker, Beal, Allen, and Gordon... they're all shooting guards. None of them have the necessary ball handling, vision, or passing to be full time point guards. Consequently the Suns' offense will devolve into Beal, Durant, and Booker taking turns going isolation or pick and roll. That's literally the only option the Suns have on offense because they don't have the point guard necessary to run advanced actions or sets.

It’s oddly enjoyable when Fami drops some long winded bullshit like this and then is wrong about the outcome

This is basic basketball. Teams have point guards for a reason.

The Suns had 19 turnovers against a washed Warriors team missing their best defensive player.

And, as a reminder, I had the Nugs winning the NBA finals in 21 games last season and they ended up winning it in 20. I also called Luka and Kyrie and Russ and LeBron not working from 100 miles away.
