Goonies in space

I saw this trailer as an ad on YouTube and didn’t register it was Star Wars until one of the kids said the word Jedi.

The world the kids are from looked more near-future than Star Wars. But I suppose not all the planets in the galaxies are shitholes but it certainly seems that way at times lol.

How bad do you guys think the Star Wars Outlaws game is gang to be?
Hopefully the combination of that and Assassin's Creed: Shadow leave Ubisoft on life support. I can't think if a better canary to send into the coalmine.

Unfortunately for them I’ve heard some positives about Outlaws but we’ll see.

Very weird to see suburban Star Wars. Weird and dumb. The trailer is like a Star Wars Goonies.
Might be interesting for the next generation of kids. But probably not.

The guys who are the actual showrunners for this are the same idiots responsible for the MCU Spiderman trilogy, so that's the main reason I expect it will suck.

I'm half expecting Ironman to show up and save the day in the last episode.

If you haven't already, take a look at the "immersive takedowns". They make the single blaster shots from the OT that drop Stormtroopers look like thermal detonators.

Guess there was a teaser type trailer for Mando & Grogu feature and maybe Andor S2.

There seem to be a couple YouTube uploads of the Mando one but since none are official I wouldn't be surprised to see them pulled so I won't bother linking.

Skeleton Crew prediction:
Jude Law is not a Jedi, and is in fact a bad guy. How do I know this? Because he's a white male, and there's no way the current Disney is making him a protagonist. Bet.

Just read the acolyte was canceled. Didn’t watch it, and don’t care, but I thought it was a one and done thing Didn’t know they were trying to launch a new series lol.

Adam Savage on his YouTube channel just put a video where talks to the guys who made the filming model of Ashoka’s ship in Ashoka. Pretty dope model honestly and I’m glad they’re not going full CGI on all the Star Wars stuff. Really great ship design. And the ship itself, as they talk about in the video, was scratch built still rather than merely a 3D print of a digital asset.

They did cameos for Yoda and Darth Plagueis in the last episode to try to generate some hype for a renewal. It failed.

Star Wars lacks any sincerity in its storytelling.

Star Wars hasn't been about telling a story since Disney took over. It is a hollow shell with a computer brain, mimicking the functions of legitimately sincere storytelling while actually just being thinly veiled activism outright.

There is not an honest bone in its body. I'd say don't burn any books of the Disney era Star Wars but since it's not about telling stories with any soul or heart anymore, I'd say we're long overdue for a Bonfire of the Kennedy.

Disney bought a literal a golden goose. Turns out it doesn’t lay a golden egg if you treat it like dogshit.

Who knew? :keke:

I know you're joking here but honestly, the EU and Disney's 'canon' both just made the universe feel smaller and less wondrous. The same could be said for the prequels too.

Should have just been the three movies and done. I think the poor quality of the majority of the output after Jedi, inclucing the 'special editions', has proven that. There have been some gems here and there but mostly it's been forgettable and uninspired. Let it rest.

Can't believe Andor, by far the best show of the bunch, had such poor viewership. Sad to see.

Acolyte having the worst viewership makes perfect sense, both because it's so bad and because it just came out.

Boba Fett and Kenobi actually did better than Ahsoka, but neither is getting another season because they were both so terrible. Boba has also been removed from the upcoming movie due to how much everyone hated his show. So it will just be a Mando/Ahsoka crossover instead.

Andor didn't have any of the name recognition, but I feel like word has slowly gotten around about it and Season 2 will get significantly more attention. I can only hope it's about as good.

I'm curious how those numbers are calculated though. I'm assuming they aren't all time numbers, some sort of first week or two after an episode is available?

Apparently it's the average of the Nielsen ratings for the week of release for each episode.

The guy who compiled it noted that the Acolyte numbers are probably much lower in reality because some weeks it didn't chart in the top 10 so he just used the viewership from whatever did chart #10 that week. Same with Andor, that's why those two are marked with an asterisk. All the other averages are legit. Nielsen wasn't tracking Disney+ yet when Mando S1 was airing so that's why it's not listed.

I forgot that 2.5 episodes of Boba Fett were just Mando episodes crammed in there.

I bet without those episodes the Boba Fett viewership would be on par with Andor and Acolyte.
