I play Art of Fighting 3 on Neo Geo X sometimes, but definitely prefer 1 & 2. The early Art of Fighting games were a big hit at the local Pizza Hut and my friends would go play them every week. I don't know how 3 fared elsewhere, but in my area I never saw an MVS unit with 3. If I never played 3 again, it'd be no big deal.

On the other hand, I still think SVC Chaos is a lot of fun to play and like it way more than AOF3.

I definitely wouldn't say SVC is a horrible game. It certainly has a charming quality that makes me return to it once in a while. Then I start playing it and remember just how unfinished it all feels. Lonesage is right, it's depressing af.

I'm a big fan of it. I like the almost apocalyptic feel to the art and music. I still need to get a legit MVS cart so anyone really hate their's and wanna sell let me know. I can see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. The fighting engine lacks a lot of polish and the inputs are buggy. But hey you get the greatest Earthquake and Hugo sprites ever made.

Bah, they just cut and paste from SF3 and dither him to death. If they had actually made new Hugo sprites to match the rest of the cast I would have loved to see it.

He's also like 10 feet tall and poison is over 6 feet due to the scale differences

yeah just the svc one reminds me of the alpha one for some reason
except the alpha background looks alot better
the whole art direction is just...bizzare, especially if you compare it to the cvs games or even the neo geo pocket svc

anyway the game is butt ugly and sounds ugly too and plays terrible (I used to own it, should've kept it and should've sold it to some rube for $1300), but seeing capcom chracters in the kof style is pretty neat and it has a few interesting characters at least (zero, mars people, tessa, shiki for example)

still nothing i'd ever want to play again. i take neo geo battle coliseum over this anyday.

That SVC background is devoid of color, but the ruins are beautiful in their own way. That is not untalented pixel work.

It was a nice attempt to update their product. It failed.

Bad company decisions don't legitimize their marketing direction just because a company made them.

Also, Terry and Mai are making all the company guest appearances. Terry is set to be Street Fighter 6's first mainline series guest character.

This is the reason that there's Terry and not Kyo, if they do another SVC / CVS you will see Kyo and Ryu on the cover 100%.
