also, GoldenEye the game is 10x better than GoldenEye, I bet it was even responsible for a huge fraction of the movie's home video sales but I don't know what the dates are and Im not looking it up right now

Well Venom is out. As the resident watcher of trash in the theater I’ll let you guys know how it is.

I enjoyed the first film though the villain in the film was weak. We’ll see how Carnage goes but I have a feeling they pulled their big guns to early and we’ll never see Carnage on screen again.

I’m not really sure what Sony’s endgame is. Are they contractually obligated as owners of the film rights to these Marvel Characters to put out these films every X years?

Oh well. I wonder how much longer we’ll see Holland as Spidey.

I know I'm in the minority but I honestly cannot stand CraigBond. His movies are boring and don't feel like Bond at all. Part of the fun of Bond was the gadgets, the car, getting all the poon, etc.

These movies transformed him into a crybaby who fell in love with that Vespa chick and had a sad for the whole series.

I honestly can't even remember the other CraigBond movies because they were so forgettable.

I seem to remember Javier Bardem playing a white dude or something.

Super meh.

Did you see the credits scene?

@SouthtownKid would probably disagree with condensing the series to poon, gadgets, and cars. For Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Bond was more serious. Maybe this was the direction or just Lazenby. Connery would have brought his own Bond. Same for Moore.

Yeah the 2nd one. I haven't seen the movie yet but I did see the leaked credits scene.

It's pretty important 🙂

No, I haven’t watched the movie yet lol. It just came out and I’m currently prostituting my time and skills as a wage slave at work.

Probably see it tomorrow afternoon or Sunday.

Actually I think Casino Royale isn't just the best Craig Bond but one of the best Bond movies overall. I also think Vespa is one of the better Bond girls.

Apparently at some point I saw the first Venom film but I honestly can't remember anything about it aside from Tom Hardy looking confused.

All the Craig Bonds are way too long, way too serious, and stupidly plotted.

But again, I only like one Brosnan Bond film, 3 or 4 Connery Bonds, and 0 of the others.

lol of course you like the Brosnan movies.
I said I like one Brosnan movie.

I like Goldeneye. I don't love it. It's okay. The rest of his movies are cartoonishly horrible. Especially Die Another Day.

My bad I was distracted and misread that you only like one as you only like.

Thinking about Brosnan I should rewatch The Matador at some point.

Anatomy of a Murder
Rewatched this one after forgetting the deets. It’s really good but the ending stinks. I get what they were going for but they didn’t pull it off. Recommended regardless.

Blow Out
Watched this right after Manhunter. I really liked it and thought Travolta was actually pretty great. It was cool to see an old school audio engineering workflow.

Killing of a Sacred Deer
I want to like this but I don’t think it’s very good. I liked the stifled dialogue delivery but it’s unclear for way too long wtf is happening. It’s based on a Greek legend but I think you need to be familiar with it before going in. Even then, you wouldn’t know what connections to make for a long time. It would have been a great short. 2 hours was way too long.

Exorcist III Directors Cut- A friend had told me a couple times to watch this and I've seen the RLM Re:view on it so I finally did. I still need to watch the theatrical cut but was thoroughly impressed by the DC, even with the poor quality footage and audio. I kind of wish I'd watched the TC first just so I could have a better frame of reference for the changes but if all the footage Brad Douriff and George C. Scott was missing then I'm sure the studio fucked it up pretty good. Those scenes are some serious heavyweight acting.

I’ve only seen the theatrical version but it’s a great movie. The scissors scene is one of the best horror movie moments ever imo.

The only good Brosnan movie is Fire Saga.
He's ok in supporting roles, I had my share of fun with Matador and Tailor of Panama. Casting him as Bond, though served only to please his ambition. Well, maybe also to deliver proof that ultimately Dalton wasn't bad. And Craig? FFS, he actually dated Heike Makatsch...

The Forever Purge - oddly boring for the first hour or so, then it just kinda says fuck it and goes 100% into current-day 'Murika and good action scenes and basically totally redeems itself. Chekov's fuckin' lasso, in particular, made my day. Rare case of a really good ending saving a mediocre movie instead of the opposite.

The Exorcist III (Theatrical Cut) While I appreciate that the writer/director was able to finally get his version released this is easily the superior version of the film. Raw footage aside the ending of the DC was just so anti-climactic which I could see working in the book but it just doesn't translate. The TC while feeling off at times and with even the shoehorned in exorcism is a far more satisfying movie. Perhaps an instance of a studios meddling actually saving or least presenting a more palatable vision than the creator.

Hey I legitimately think GoldenEye is a great bond movie, for Brosnan to star in it at least. Did not like the other movies he made all that much.

Just watched The Dogs of War with my boy Christopher Walken. NINE MILLIMITER QUAD. END-USER CERTIFICATE. I don't know... I can see this as a very sincere adaptation of the movie since they tried to show the planning parts of Forsyth's book in it and make it important to the progression of the story, but it just doesn't feel right and I'd probably be bored to death during these scenes if I hadn't read the book before. What's supposed to be the bulk of the story and told in a highly detailed, documental manner ends up feeling like pointless filler because of the missing details of the book (what IS an end-user cert for having a dedicated scene to buying it?) and silly changes like a XM something something grenade launcher being used as a hollywood weapon instead of Shannon buying regular old mortars, brand new Uzis instead of surplus MP40s being bought on the black market, etc. etc. This, which is second act of the movie, feels really weak.

At least the first and third acts are OK, maybe they should have focused more time on that in the screenplay. Or own the fact that the book is basically a "how to mount your own illegal mercenary operation for dummies" and focus on it, seemed to have worked fine for The Day of the Jackal at least.

Rating: it wasn't egregiously bad, but I should have read the book again instead. Great novel alongside Day of the Jackal and The Odessa File.
