How about a sequel of games we somewhat like? A Superspy sequel with SNKs knowledge of the hardware in 2000? Maybe a Doom style would be possible or different directions to turn around in its rail system with some trickery, and of course more enemy variety and actual guns with much more ammo lol

It would just come off as a poverty FPS, plus there was zero demand for any kind of game like that in the arcades by that point, unless it involved the use of a light gun.

Maybe one released in 1993 could have worked, but definitely not after Doom came out and changed everything.

Doom was pretty expensive tough, getting a PC in 1993

And the Neo-Geo was cheap? ;)

Besides, family computers were obviously able to do a lot more than just play games, and that's usually how parents were able to justify the purchase. Not to mention being able to borrow your friend's floppies or pirating stuff.

Not to mention there were plenty of Doom (inferior) ports that came out on various consoles soon after.

Regardless, releasing a SS sequel in the late 90s would have been a really bad idea.

Neo Drift Out 2: Newer Technology! Still one of my faves to pop in the cab and have a quick couple of runs on. 7 minutes for a full 1cc just isn’t long enough.
